Beer #11 - Buffalo Bill's Blueberry Oatmeal Stout

Style: Stout
Purchased at: Vintage Cellar
What makes this beer different: Blueberries!
Will I be drinking this again: Yes.
Grade: B

Comments:
Yes, another blueberry beer. But this one is more aligned to my tastes! The moment the aroma hits your nose, you smell the blueberries. But the smell can be deceiving, as the delicate blend of hops and barley in this beer contrast the blueberries in a wonderful way so they are not too strong. This is a full and heavy stout so be prepared. If you are looking to shake things up with something a little different than the norm, give this one a shot. If you don't like stouts or porters, this one is no different and I would stay away if I were you.

Recommendations:
Try this brew out with some hot wings and fried mozzarella while watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and watch Violet Beauregarde turn into a plump blueberry!

Beer #42 - Sapporo Premium Beer

Style: Japanese Rice Lager Purchased at: Sakura Japanese Steakhouse & World Market What makes this beer different: Japanese Will I be drinking this again: Yup Grade: C+ Comments: This brew is a carbonated, frothy, medium bodied lager with a dry finish and possesses hints of bitter hops  Beer pours egg yolk yellow with a creamy white head; sweet malts and soft grains lie in the undertones of this subtle smelling lager. Unfortunately nothing really sets this beer apart from the crowd, other than it being a Japanese Lager. Don't get me wrong, it is very good and quite drinkable! It just isn't a game changer for me, which is why my score isn't higher. Go out and give this one a try, it is definitely worth it ... ESPECIALLY for my light beer lovers out there! Recommendations: Pair with Shrimp Tempura and Edamame Soy Beans is perfect!

Beer #27 - Stone/BrewDog Bashah

Style: American Strong Ale Purchased at: Once Upon A Vine What makes this beer different: Nice Dark IPA Will I be drinking this again: Most Definitely Grade: A- Comments: This is an excellent beer! One of the best I have ever had. To me it seems like 65% strong IPA mixed with 35% Porter; a masterful combination in my book. Pours a deep dark brown with a hefty head on the brew and some lacing. Recommendations: Try this baby out in a tulip glass ... it is definitely a sipper beer, so enjoy each and every last sip with a baguette and a little asiago cheese!

Beer 2 – Ommegang Three Philosophers

Style: Quadruple Purchased at: Vintage Cellar What makes this beer different: Lindeman's Kriek (Cherry Lambic Flavor) Will I be drinking this again: Yes Grade: A Comments: A “Quad” is a belgian style ale with high alcohol content, and uses up to four times the usual malt one would use to brew beer. Usually they end up pretty sweet and hide the alcohol well. This Belgian is brewed by Ommegang in Cooperstown, NY and let me tell you, it’s good. Period. It is not the best Belgian I have ever had, but it has a wonderful taste and is quite unique. From the first sip, the dominant taste in this one is tart cherry. Three Philosophers is a blend of Belgian dark strong ale and Lindeman's Kriek (a classic cherry lambic directly from Belgium). The one note I would make is that it lacks the liveliness usually associated with quads. Recommendations: Wonderful accompaniment for roasted meats, cheeses, desserts, and for after dinner sipping as with a fine port.
