Comments:
On his first try, Justin Barber and associates have created a knock out brew! Incredible vibrant color and flavor intensity; it has beautifully crafted hops and sweetness interlaced throughout every sip. EXTREMELY drinkable, and definitely a crowd pleaser for even the novice beer officianado! Thumbs up mate, you have my vote!

Recommendations:
Take a drive to Blacksburg and pair this brew with a nice meatlovers sicilian pizza at PK'S!

Beer 4 - Baltika Brewery Baltika 7

Style: Dortmunder/Export Lager Purchased at: Vintage Cellar What makes this beer different: A quick punch in the face; and BTW it's from Russia! Will I be drinking this again: Probably, but not often. Grade: C+ Comments: This beer is just OK to me. I would usually consider it an average Eastern European pilsner, but there are two things that set it apart; (1) it is from Russia, which I find neat & (2) the bottle including presentation is subtle but eye catching. Baltika 7 is a classic eastern european pilsner with honey and sugar overtones. The taste and waft are not very strong, but I must admit that the aftertaste lingers (which is a good thing for this beer). Bottom line is that this beer has a hint of complexity in it that should not be ignored. The lager has a clean, smooth taste and exhibits excellent lacing. Recommendations: Pours well with potato skins, pizza bites and mozzarella sticks! Also, beer mug will not suffice for this beer; complexity demands...

Beer #18 - Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat

Style: Hefeweizen Purchased at: Vintage Cellar What makes this beer different: Nice cloudy Hef! Will I be drinking this again: Probably. Grade: B Comments: This is a nice, unfiltered, traditional Bavarian Hefeweizen. There isn't a lot to complain about on this beer. That being said, there isn't much that sets it apart from the likes of Sam Adams or ... when it comes to Hefeweizens. Should be $2 or less from most places; that is a little more than I would like to see on this beer. You can get a 6 pack of Sam Adams Hef for about $8, and it is just as good. Definitely worth a try though if you are looking for something new to try. Recommendations: This beer is a MUST with a nice juicy bratwurst. PERFECT COMBO!

Beer #40 - Bull & Bones Maroon Effect Ale

Style: Red Ale Purchased at: Bull & Bones Restaurant and Brewery What makes this beer different: The Wonderful Smell Will I be drinking this again: Definitely Grade: B+ Comments: This is my favorite beer at a local brewhaus here in Blacksburg. It collides perfectly with BBQ, Nachos, and fresh Pretzels. The smells consist of fresh cinnamon, molasses, and cloves. It reminds me of being out in the woods when I was little. The color is beautiful as well. If you are ever in Blacksburg head to Bull & Bones and give one of their brews a try! Updates to follow .... Recommendations: 1) Order the Brewery Sampler, 2) Order a pint of your favorite brew sampled, 3) Order some Game Day Nachos, YUM!
